When going through a divorce, it’s important to update your benefits to reflect your new circumstances.

Enter a Divorce Event in Workday

To complete this process, you will need to provide verification by uploading your finalized divorce decree in Workday. Once you upload the verification, the Benefits Team will finalize the event and remove your ex-spouse from your coverage(s) within 2 business days. If you have stepchildren on the plan, please contact the Benefits Team at benefits@schreiberfoods.com for further assistance.

  1. Log in to Workday.
  2. Click on the Menu (Upper Left) and select Personal Information.
  3. In the View column (right column) click on Worker Documents.
  4. Click the Add button.
  5. Click on Select files, choose the documentation you want to upload, and then click Open.
  6. Select Document Category: Benefits – Life Event.
  7. (Optional) You can add a description in the comment box to help track your uploads, for example, “Divorce Decree.”
  8. Click OK, and then click Done if you are done uploading documents. If you need to add more documents, click the Add button and restart from step 4.

Review and Update Beneficiaries for All Benefits

  • Life Insurance/Accidental Death & Dismemberment: Update in Workday through a beneficiary event.
  • Health Savings Account: Beneficiary changes must be made in the Optum portal.
  • Retirement: Beneficiary changes must be made in the Principal portal.

Assign Retirement Benefits to Ex-Spouse

If your ex-spouse is entitled to a portion of your Schreiber retirement benefits, you will need to supply Schreiber with a court approved Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO) which will define how the assets are to be split. Please see the QDRO FAQ for additional details.
